Competency: Children’s Services

Sub-Category: Designs, implements, and sponsors library programs that offer information, special skills or entertainment for children and their families and caregivers

As a pillar of library services to children, storytime provides an excellent opportunity to lay the groundwork for lifelong literacy as well as fine and gross motor development. In this interactive webinar program, Jill Burket Ragase will give you a variety of tools that you will be able to use to:

• Incorporate current literacy research to select stories that enhance literacy, reading and STEM skills

• Select flannel boards, playlists, and crafts to encourage fine and gross motor skills.

• Strategies to create and deliver programs that allow children to continue learning and skill building beyond storytime

Whether you are a seasoned veteran looking to refresh your offerings or a rookie not sure where to start, we will move beyond the research, providing participants with storytime plans, booklists, and resources to revitalize one of the longest running programs offered in Children’s Services.

Cost: SERLS Member Libraries: Zero...no cost...nothing...nada

All Other Libraries: A paltry $15.00
